We are often asked which VG/PG ratio is the best for our e-liquids!
The short answer: We recommend 70VG/30PG for all tanks and 50VG/50PG for pod systems!
The long answer:
What is PG?
PG stands for Propylene Glycol. It is colorless, odorless and has an extremely low viscosity close to water (very thin). It can usually be found in many household items and food!
PG is an extremely good flavour carrier! This means that the flavour molecules bind easily to it. Most of the flavourings used in vaping (and the food industry!) are suspended in Propylene Glycol.
In vaping, PG is usually associated with flavour, throat hit and ease of wicking!
What is VG?
VG Stands for Vegetable Glycerin. It is colorless, has a slight sweet taste and has a high viscosity (thick consistency). It can also be found in many household items and food!
VG is not a very good flavour carrier, smooths out the throat hit, allows for much greater vapour production and is much harder to wick due to its consistency!
Since VG is not a great flavour carrier, a higher VG vape juice will need much more time to reach the intended flavour profile. This is often called steeping in the vaping community!
This is the main reason why a Max VG flavour will require much more time to reach its intended flavour profile over a 70%VG or 50% VG blend. At first, only the main notes will be noticeable (like menthol). As the flavour steeps (ages), the profile will be more and more pronounced!
Our Recommendation:
We firmly believe the best ejuice ratio for everyday use in all tanks/RDAs is 70%VG/30%PG. This provides the best balance between flavour, throat hit and ease of wicking!
If a pod system is used, a 50%VG or lower blend is recommended since these systems have small wicking channels which can have trouble with 70%VG liquids.
Hopefully that answers your question! If in doubt, simply shoot us an email!
